Classification of the category of summer shoes
Open-toed shoes are the best way to air out sweaty feet in the warm season.
History and Development
The sandal, as one of the oldest shoe forms, was able to establish itself late in modern Europe. At the beginning of the 20th century, sandals appeared in men’s clothing, but they were only worn casually and with socks. Open toe shoes were frowned upon up until the 1960s.
After the pumps, now flipped back as peep-toes, started with their tiny opening, the summer shoes quickly got more and more air pockets and became more sensitive. Slingbacks, which are closed at the front and open at the heel, replace classic pumps on official occasions.
As well as sandals from the 1960s, the resort area is also home to espadrilles, which originated in Spain and are popular in southern France. The flat cotton slippers with raffia embodied the carefree Mediterranean lifestyle of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.
Flip Flops and Sandals
In the 1990s, the colorfully styled thong flip-flop was made into outdoor flip-flops. The high-heeled sandal, the finest version of the summer shoe, is now even in season in winter in some places. While some fashion-forward New Yorkers wear them cold despite the cold, lately this fashion dictate has also allowed socks and tights in an open-toed shoe.
