We’ve shared a lot of hairstyle ideas and haircuts for summer, but what about hair care? Sometimes our hair looks like straw in the summer because it’s the time when it needs special care, just like your skin. What Can You Do To Get Perfect Hair?
- Cover your hair with a hat or scarf in summer. This protects it from the harmful UV rays and also helps it retain moisture. A hat will reduce wind damage, especially if your hair is prone to tangles, and will protect colored hair.
- Keeping your hair in a loose hairstyle will work wonders in the summer. It will help deflate your locks and prevent sweat from building up.
- Avoid washing your hair too much this season. It frees your hair of the essential oils that naturally moisturize it. And when washing your hair, use brands that are gentle, nourishing, and have a high SPF. Use a homemade or natural dry shampoo like cornstarch instead of a regular shampoo to go a little longer without washing.
- Avoid hairdryers as often as possible, as blow-drying will make your hair frizzy. Also avoid flat irons as these will further damage hair that is already dry. Plus, a sleek hairstyle only makes the frizz more noticeable.
- Continue conditioning. Your hair needs to replenish its moisture in order to stay healthy. Try a natural deep conditioning treatment once a week to bring more moisture to your hair.
- Keep calm, eat healthy, and exercise because your hair will reflect your lifestyle. Salmon, spinach, and omega-3 rich eggs can keep your hair strong and look healthy and shiny.
- A hot oil rinse is a must in summer. After washing your hair, heat natural oil (coconut, almond, or olive) and apply it to your hair from the tips to the roots. Your hair should then feel moisturized, but not greasy.
- After applying sunscreen to your body, simply run your fingers through your hair and let the remaining sunscreen protect your hair from UV rays.
- Instead of brushing your hair, use a wide-toothed comb. These tend to be a lot less harsh when it comes to untangling your locks.
- If you go swimming, moisten your hair before entering the pool. This way it will absorb less chlorine. Another idea is to brush a few drops of natural hair oil through your dry locks with a boar bristle brush, and then pour fresh water over your hair. The oil acts as an additional barrier because the oil and water do not mix.
- If you’re a blonde who turns green after a swim in the pool, rinse your wet hair with ΒΌ cup apple cider vinegar and 2 cups water to remove any discoloration and dullness.
- Do not use hairsprays as they are extremely dry. If you do need to use hairspray, consider using one that contains natural ingredients and conditioners as these are more conditioning and neutralizing.
- Make a mixture of avocado oil, aloe vera juice and water and pour this preparation into a squeeze bottle. Always keep it handy when you feel the dryness rise in your hair. You can also use an herbal tea conditioner to enhance your hair’s natural highlights. Add lemon or chamomile for blonde hair, black tea for brown or black hair, or red zinger for copper or red hair.
- When you’re at the beach, brush back your dry hair with conditioner. It acts as a barrier to sunlight, salt water and chlorine. If you want summer highlights, skip certain strands.
