If you find this non-mainstream blog post, you are very likely interested in horseback riding. In fact, breeches are not only intended for riding, but can also be worn as leisure outfits. While I don’t see breeches as something you want to wear very often, they are something you want to wear on those days when you happen to be bored with jeans. Styling breeches is really not an easy task. For this blog post, I’m trying to compile a list of the best ways to style breeches. Whether you try them out as real riding outfits or casual outfits, I hope these ideas make you look your best when you wear them.
Jodhpurs with turtleneck and tweed jacket
You will definitely find long knee high boots in this list of outfit ideas. They simply look good in combination with breeches. This outfit is just a good example of that. For the top, consider wearing a turtleneck with a tweed jacket. Wear breeches with knee-high boots for the buttocks.
Black breeches with blazer and knee high boots
This outfit idea is much closer to a typical street outfit compared to the previous idea. Simply combine black jodhpurs with a red top and a black blazer. Again, wear knee-high boots that match the breeches.
Matching blazer & breeches
For a smart looking equestrian outfit, you can wear a two-piece set consisting of a blazer and breeches. You can wear a high-necked, fitted sweater and knee-high boots with these pieces.
Wear yours with a plaid flannel shirt and waistcoat
This is another breeches outfit that can be worn as a casual street outfit. For the top, wear a black and red plaid flannel shirt and vest over it. For the bottom, you can wear gray breeches and black leather boots.
Wear yours with a blanket sweater and a plaid scarf
For a casual look in spring and fall, you can wear a cream knit sweater and a plaid scarf for the top. Pair them with gray jodhpurs and brown knee high boots.
Red breeches with a white knit sweater
I’m not a fan of red pants. But the color red and breeches seem to go well together for some reason. As a chic leisure outfit, you can combine the red breeches with a white knit sweater and brown knee-high boots. Wear a scarf for a feminine touch.
Wear it with a white sweater and a plaid flat cap
Similar to the previous idea, this casual outfit consists of a white cable knit sweater. You can easily combine the sweater with breeches and boots. The plaid flat cap in this outfit really makes the difference.
Wear with White Vest Top & Scarf
You can wear breeches casually by combining the black breeches with a white vest top. As usual, wear knee-high boots with pants. Adding a scarf to the outfit would prevent the outfit from looking too sloppy.
Ripped breeches with a white tunic top
To create a breezy feel, you can pair ripped breeches with a white tunic top. Wear brown leather knee high boots with a matching wallet. This is probably my favorite outfit on this list because I’m quite amazed how breeches can be part of a simple and cozy outfit.
Black sweater with white jodhpurs
White is also a very popular color when it comes to breeches. To combine it with white breeches, it makes sense to use a black sweater. Pair with brown leather boots to make this outfit look chic.
Wear yours with knee-high leather boots and a checked blazer

Many people, including myself, associate polo shirts with horseback riding. In fact, a polo shirt and breeches go well together. As an example, you can wear a long-sleeved white polo shirt with jodhpurs and knee-high boots for this outfit.
Wear with Marled Knit Sweater
In many other blog posts with outfit ideas, I’ve mentioned the trick to looking tall and pretty by wearing a loose top and tight bottoms. This outfit idea is a demonstration of this trick. Wear a loose and colorful knit sweater for the top. Complete the outfit with breeches and boots.
Breeches with white shirt and black blazer
I’m throwing this outfit in here to show you what a typical riding outfit looks like. It usually consists of a white button down shirt and a black blazer. For the bottom, it consists of beige hiking pants and knee-high riding boots.
Royal blue breeches with light yellow sleeveless blouse
This is a very atypical breeches outfit idea that actually looks girly and pretty. The outfit consists of a light yellow sleeveless top and royal blue breeches. It has to be the creative use of color that makes this outfit look so casual and refreshing.
Here are some of my favorite ways to wear jodhpurs. I hope you find the outfit ideas helpful. Styling breeches is really not an easy task. Still, you want to play around with different outfit ideas to see what looks good on you and what doesn’t. However, I have to admit that I wear jodhpurs which I would like to avoid mainly for the tight fit as I always try to work in a more comfortable outfit. But that’s just me. As I said, try them out and make up your own mind.
